Syrian Children Praying in Jesus' Name

When an educational center for the children of Syrian refugees first opened, the children covered their ears when the Christians prayed. “It was as if it was the biggest blasphemy they had ever heard!” a VOM contact said. But years later, the children now gladly fold their hands to pray before meals. They ask for protection, for clean hearts and for good health. “Amazingly, these children pray in the name of Jesus and actually believe He is the only one who can answer their prayers,” the contact said. Pray that these Syrian children will remain committed to Jesus and will share His love with other Syrians.

Pastor Celebrates Expanding Kingdom as His Wife Battles Cancer

A VOM-supported Christian worker in Vietnam is celebrating the spread of the gospel among tribal people in Vietnam’s Central Highlands after a year’s worth of work. Pastor Quang and his wife, Nhu, travel to the region a few times each month to share the gospel with about 10 tribes and train those who have accepted Christ to share the gospel in their villages. Through their work, more than 500 people have heard the gospel and at least 100 have accepted Christ. They also helped found a church, but the local government has tried to shut it down. Through ongoing training, the church has remained faithful to the Lord and is reaching out to villagers with the love of Jesus. Quang thanks God for blessing his ministry and prays for Nhu’s healing from cancer. Pray for this courageous couple and their children, as well as for their ministry. Pray that God will use Nhu’s battle with cancer for his glory.

Defectors Sharing the Gospel with North Koreans

Mrs. Han, a North Korean defector, is determined to share her faith with her countrymen. After defecting a few years ago, Mrs. Han came to know Christ in South Korea. She then joined a VOM training program for defectors that teaches the basic tenants of the Christian faith. Those who complete the first course are invited to advance to the missionary training course, in which they are taught to share the gospel with other North Koreans. After completing both courses, Mrs. Han made this statement at her graduation: “If the 30,000 North Korean defectors are to share the gospel with the 23 million North Koreans, each of us must share the gospel with 770 people. But I do not believe this is an impossible or difficult task.” Mrs. Han is determined to play her part in this immense, but not impossible, task. Pray for her and other North Korean defectors who are reaching out to North Koreans with the gospel.
