A Christian convert from Islam was kidnapped by unknown attackers recently and questioned about his faith. At midnight, someone knocked on the door of Sohail’s rented home and called his name. When he answered the door, some men grabbed him, blindfolded him and took him away. His kidnappers, whom he never saw, asked him repeatedly why he had left Islam and moved to a new house. Sohail remained silent for a while, but after repeated questioning he told them he could make any decision he liked. When they threatened to kill him, Sohail told them he was ready to die and would never change his mind. The next day, his kidnappers drove him back to a main road and released him. When Sohail first became a Christian, his brothers chased him from the family home. Pray for the courage, faith and safety of Sohail and his family.

Village leaders tortured a Hmong Christian recently in an attempt to get him and his wife to renounce their new Christian faith. After the couple refused to abandon their faith in Christ, the villagers hung the man upside down over a fire of spicy peppers. The acrid smoke burned his skin, throat and eyes, until he eventually agreed to renounce his faith. The couple has since fled to another village where they are able to openly follow Christ. Pray for this couple’s faith, and pray that God will soften the village leaders’ hearts toward Him.

Buddhist fundamentalists broke into a school run by Christians recently, searching for proof that the Christians were indoctrinating local Buddhist children. The Buddhists broke into the school during the night, rifling through offices and destroying furniture, but they didn’t find the evidence they were seeking. The Christian who manages the school was born into a traditional Buddhist family that came to Christ after his mother was healed from an illness. Because there was no school in the village, he decided to start one. Several Buddhist students have come to faith in Jesus Christ since starting to attend the school, prompting accusations from Buddhist fundamentalists that the Christians are proselytizing. Pray for the protection and security of the school and its staff.
